Here is a Mockernut hickory I recently finished. I had built 4 bows from the same tree as this one, heat treated them all,and every one of them developed stress fractures, including one that had made a trip to Bob Moon out in California,(then home again
). I still have 2 more roughed out staves from this tree,so,beginning with this one ,I opted not to heat treat any of them, and so far no problems. It's funny, but ,until this particular tree,I have never had a stress fracture in hickory,of any kind. This bow is 64 3/4 '' tip to tip, 63 1/4" nock to nock. 1 3/8" at the fades with an even taper to 3/8" nocks. 49#@26",walnut stain, with osage overlays.Dyed cane grip. God Bless
