Quitting Copper Cold Turkey

This may not last too long but I'm getting back into abo flintknapping in a big way.  No more copper for me... for now.  Hopefully the withdrawal simptoms won't be fatal. :o

You can find the rest on my channel.  In the near future, I will make videos with nothing "modern" in them.  The hardest part will be to find a spot that doesn't have the sounds of engines, sirens, or aircraft in the background.... :-\  The next hardest thing will be getting used to wearing buckskins and body paint...heheh  :o

Nice tool set! I've been wanting to go back to Abo , but everytime I try it I fail catastrophically! Its got me a little gun shy about it. Keep the vids comming .

Uh-oh, I know of such a spot.  Deer hunting might get interesting??!!  Now that primitive camp site makes more sense. ;)

Yea, wearing buckskin during rifle season might be a little risky.  Some  blaze orange face paint might look cool though...  Let me know when you're heading out there.  I'll stand guard for you.   George

Nice vid.  I have tried hammerstones and such.  Somtimes I might use one to try and spall a big piece of tough rhyolite when I dont want to mess up my copper by hitting it to hard and deforming it.  The problem for me is that I cant find anything other than quartzite around here and it tends to break up after a few good whacks.

Finder, the New England area is famous for it's lack of knappable rock.  I grew up in NH.  The only thing I can suggest is try looking for high grade slate.  It can be slabbed easily (ask a roofer) and you can grind it into arrowheads that are about as sharp as bone.  For free knapping stone, you'll have to take a road trip to NY or PA.

i got exicted for a second, then i realized what is near my house is shale not slate, but i will defiantly start looking out for slate, i do have a large supply of ceramic flooring tiles, somebody left a large box at my dump, i know its not the best, but it sometimes works :-\

No, I am actually in N. Carolina.  Im from TX but stayed here after I got out of the Army.  In the Fayetteville area to be exact.
