My 2011/2012 Osage hunting bow
« on: September 27, 2011, 09:33:21 pm »
I kindly received a third osage stave from Gstoneberg. It had no knots but it had some severe deflex in one limb and reflex in the other. After lots and lots of heat bending i ended up with a fast, hard hitting, and accurate bow. It pulls 45#@24''. I stained it with English chestnut and finished it with danish oil.

Tom, that puts a smile on my face.  I just love how the finish highlights the grain.  Very nice work.

Thanks George. I forgot to mention that I ripped the rawhide off because i had to do more heat bending and it was shooting kinda sluggish with it on.

Really nice work young feller. I am truly impressed ;D
The wrap below the handle...what is the story on that ?
Bow looks good on you, how long is it?

That finish is super nice and the whole package is outstanding.

Thanks, the bow is 60 inches long. While i was heat bending some reflex-deflex into that limb a little splinter popped up on the back so i wrapped it with rawhide.

Great job on a fine piece of wood.  Like how the grain stands out on her.  That oughta get you some meat on the table!  Your fulll draw tiller also looks great!
