           OK, its traditional name is a "float." Its used to saw a slot in a handle the same size as the tang (thickness) fer a knife blade.Cuts on up stroke not down. Is narrowed in front to fit in hole ya dirll first.On this one the blade (thickness) is same size as tangs I usually make. Have others with different thickness. Heres pic again.
