  Just finsihed up a 130# @28" 72" American long bow.  This bow was built in a big part to test out my mass weight theory in higher weight bows. I was able to bring it in at exactly projected mass weight of 36 oz with 1" of set Imediately after unstringing and drawing the bow. As usual the stav mark St Louis sent me was top grade! Exceptional wood. If I have time I will hook up my shooting machine and run some arrows through it. Not really designed for the job it will be used for as I may have Marlon shoot this bow in the broadhead selfbow class. The small amount of set the bow took is the rock solid kind that I prefer.  Not really sure how well it will perform, I expect it will be decent. After I put a finsih on it and wrap the handle and such I will post more pics. Steve

Looks good Steve.  I love the texture and color variation on the back of a hornbeam selfbow.  Justin

That bow looks wicked, in a whitewood kinda way..I hope big Jim sees it..thats what he needs to make.

That's a beast. How wide is it out of the fades? Good looking bow, interested to see how it does in the flight shoot.

2" wide at the fades, started off paralell limbs just past 1/2 way but ended up almost a pyramid with the side tillering. I sure wish i could shoot it! I was thinking of signing up at the gym but by the time I got strong enough the wood would probably be rotten. Steve

Started on another one this morning, this time an elb, projected mass for this next one at 130# will be about 27 oz, so anywhere between 26oz and 28 oz should work.  bendy handle on the next one, for elbs i use the standard formula but deduct 1% for every 5# over 50#, a 130# bow i would deduct 16% form the projected mass of 32 oz. Seems kinda scary but i will go with it. Steve

Awesome Steve.  That's a tough bow to build, I'd think.  That should easily set a new standard in the broadhead shoot.  Looking forward to the F/D shots, too.
