A true "natural"....this guy can shoot
« on: September 12, 2011, 10:43:58 pm »
Hey fellas,
Met the neighbor (a 14 yr old friend of my granddaughter) turns out Tyler was going hunting this archery season for the first time. He was talkin about how his compound needed to be "tunned-in" before he could practice. Talked with Tyler about 30 min and it was clear he needed a primitive set-up.
Gave him a couple bows and a set of arrows......and danged if this guy cant shoot....bare fingered, off the knuckle, and thinks stick bows rule (that's a quote). He draws and shoots a 45# bow very well and no signs of fatigue or caving in to the weight. After a few short lessons he is shooting 8-10 inch groups at 15 yards consistantly. He's real interested in building his own equipment so I hope to encourage him further.
I took a few pics to see what all of ya thought.....I think he ought to join up so you fellas can help him with his questions......anyway here's the pics, see what ya think

Nice Rich!  Your generosity has no doubt got and kept many young ones involved in primitive archery ;)

Great story, Rich!  Tiller looks excellent on that bow.  Didn't know you made long bows (ha-ha).  Yeah, I'd say he's hooked.

Get him to join!!! Then I'll have someone on here who's actually my close to my age! Tell him I'm impress it took me three summers of shooting probably 2 hours a day to get that kind of accuracy at 20 yards... I can't believe he got it down that fast... Must have been the teacher... :)
