fletching jig which one to buy?
« on: August 22, 2011, 12:28:09 pm »
fletching jig which on to buy? There are many different types and I don't have a background on them. First I think I only need to make one arrow at a time. I would like to have quality jig so that it would do a good job. Based on that what would you suggest?

Bitzinburger [Not for sure on the spelling]  :) :) they don't get any better,I have 3 and have had one for over 30 years and it is still as good as it was when I got it.

I know the Blitzenburger is good, never used one myself, but have friends who do.  Jo Jan makes a good multi, I'm sure their single is of the same quality.  I bought one of the cheap red Bohning Pro-Class jigs, I think they are about $30 now, probably get them cheaper, I got mine @ 3R.  I bought an extra clamp too, just so I'd be ready when the glue was dry.  :D

Whatever you choose, get 2.  I have one setup for right wing and one set up for left.  Mine are grayling jigs.  It's a lot easier to repair or replace a fletch if the jig is still set up exactly as that arrow was fletched.  If you only use one wing off your turkeys then 1 would do.

Sure like my JoJan, but I haven't tried anything else.

I have used my JoJan Multifletch for many years and love it. It is a straight fletch so I can use right or left wing feathers and offset either to the right or left.

I have the red bohning jig with the 3 different clamps.  It was cheap and seems to do a fine job.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I have not had a problem with any of them ,I think I've used them all
Only Little differences in them
Most folks won't wear them out ,that being said Pappy made the right choice for him!
I don't use any of them anymore cause I have settled in to the eastern woodlands two Fletch for me and don't do arrows for others anymore
 Have fun

I just got a Bearpaw jig ($49.95 and $12.95 for extra clamps) and I like it a lot.  I have not used others but it works very well and it is cheaper than the Bitzenburger ($82.95 and $31.95 for extra clamps).  It gets my vote for sure.
Happy hunting to all!

I USE THE BITZENBURGER, I use the straight clamp. that way you can use both left or right. and it is adjustable. I think its great.

I think JoJan and Bitzenburger are both great. I have a Bitzen burger with a straight clamp and I have a JoJan with a left helical and right helical  clamp so I can do just about any type of fletching I want. The thing I like about my JoJan is on the bottom where you put the nock in so that you can turn it to the next position can be popped out and flipped over to do 3 or 4 fletch. I use mostly my JoJan now but that's mainly because I have the helical clamps for it and I like putting a helical twist on my feathers.
