I've done it on Osage and it worked just fine. I've seen Pappy do it on Bamboo backed bows and it seemed to work out good also. I'd super glue the splinter first before using the sinew. If it's a long splinter then I'd super glue, wrap it with sinew, then back it with something like rawhide or silk. A friend of mine used silk on a Bamboo backed bow and the nodes on the back had even been sanded flush because a real long splinter lifted about 6-08 inch's long between nodes on the working portion of the limb. It shoot like a champ when he was finished. Not sure how long that will hold up but it seemed to work out mighty nice.
