Got your fine bow all set up for June Self Bow of the Month consideration.  Nice Job!

Thanks for your compliments!

@FarEastArcher

yep it is from a board. I make most of my hickory from boards. Here in Germany it is easier to get  boards of hickory.

@finnishnative
I think the stiff part is an optical mistake ;), cause I hold the bow not right straight up.
I tiller the bow that it begins to bend a little just after the fade out.

I too, really like your work, AndrewS. That building behind you - it looks ancient - a barn? I was going to ask where you are, but you already said! I spent 18 months in your great country, and some of my best memories are of Germany, and not just the bier, though....they are up there!

Very nice bow, that plum is beautiful stuff.  I like the looks of the horn on the static tips too.  Not a bad idea, to bend the thinned board and then bolster it with an overlay.  You could also kerf the tips and insert a wedge of wood, as an alternative to stiffen a tip like that.  Scarier procedure than what you did.

@Dane
yes it is a barn! In the barn there is my shop ;)

I live in Gießen. May be you know it???

(But as a snob I think the beer in Gießen isn't good - the best beer comes from Peine (my hometown where my parents live). It's called "Härke-Bier" and in Peine we say "Härke gibt die Stärke" what means "The "Härke"-beer made you strong" ;D

Can I have that barn! Wow, what a great place to work.

No, afraid I don't know that town, although I have heard the name.

I was near Klosterlechfeld, down south below Augburg, and perhaps 1 hour by train to Munchen. One of my favorite beirs locally was called Haffenbrau, seit 13 something...and we thing 100 years is old in the country, :)

I'd love to try the bier from your hometown, of course. I hope to get back there one day in the next few years, and bring my wife. Then I can try it! She, alas, is a wine drinker, but there is always hope, as last night, I had a local weisen with the lemon slice, and she said it was drinkable. :)

I think it is complicated shipping the barn :D

In bavarian they have a lot of beer. Very little local breweries with a lot of delicious stuff ;D
In other regions of Germany there is a lot of good and fine wine. Isn't that a reason to come back and visit the nice places in Germany :)

Greetings to your wife - in summer I like Weizen, too.

Today I will go to Belgium - they also have nice beer (something like champagne beer ::))
