Setup for praehistoric tournament

(1/2) > >>

AndrewS:
This weekend I will go to Belgium to a tournament with praehistoric weapons. Very simple rules - you can say: no metals and no plastics!
It will be at a museum and this year there is a exposition about bows and arrows.
Saturday is the bow contest and Sunday is the atlatl contest.
Hope to meet nice people there.

In the following pics you can see my setup ;):

First there is the bow:

Hickory, 64", 52lbs @27, slight deflex-reflex and going to be a "d-bow". It is a build up grip (with cork). For decoration I made a wrapping of fishleather on each limb.
The string is linen.

(More pics of the bow are available next month ;D)

AndrewS:
After the last pic of the bow the pics of the arrows are following:

The points are of bone, glued on with birchpine. The feathers are goose, glued on with birchpine also.
The wrapping is out of handspined linenthread.

Hillbilly:
Really nice stuff. Those bone points are awesome.

AndrewS:
Thanks Hillbilly you are so fast 8)

The last pics are my atlatl and the darts:

The atlatl is the rest of a broken yew-bow-limb. I put in a point of "deer antler",wrapped with rawhide covered with pitchpine. A little bit of shaving here and sanding there.......

The darts are out of Ramin. They are 3/8 Diameter and have a two goosefeather-fletching. The points are of hardwood (beech and osage)
