Finally finished my trade bow. (pic heavy)
« on: July 17, 2011, 10:59:33 am »
Sorry for being late, I had a few setbacks getting my trade bow fnished, between starting too late, then tearing my calf muscle which made me lose 3 weeks since I couldn't go down the stairs to my basement shop.

This ended up being my 4th attempt, the first came out way light, 2nd attempt not quite as light but still light, 3rd attempt broke trying to brace it.

Anyway, here's the specs:

Yew (local eastern yew)
62.5" NTN
45# @ 26"
Limbs are start at 1.5" wide, tapering from mid-limb to 3/8" tips

It's got a bit of character to it but it draws smooth and shoots straight.  I laid it out with symmetrical limbs since it is for a left but I am very right handed and needed to shoot it in right handed (shot it in upside down so the arrow was shot off of the correct side of the bow).

It's all packaged up and will get taken to the post office tomorrow. Hopefully the recipient won't mind it being a little late.

Awesome bow, Love all the character bumps and scars. I'm glad to see you used the original shape, leaving the sweeping bends to bisect the handle. Very well done. Except I'm right handed  :o :(

Someone will be very happy!
