maple saplings
« on: July 19, 2011, 10:56:11 am »
i know what water maple looks like.  rock maple on the other hand and unless i am looking at it wrong is hard for me to distinguish.

is it a common variety of maple that is found in the woods(trees are in the woods, duh)?  if this is the case then i am surrounded by the stuff(sapling size and some larger).  what about indentifying the variety of maple? any ideas?

I carry a  tree identification book with me in my pack, I think its a petersons guide. small book and good for identifying any tree. I bought it at the local bookstore for under 20.00. just my 2 cents. good luck
