Here are a few pictures of some shoot arrow material that I have in the making
Some red osier as they are before the first straightening

And now after the first heat straightening

And some sourwood that I got in a trade with Pat B.

I got a few of those red osier shoots I've been working on also Charles. Man, are they tough to straighten. You done a nice straightening job on yours. How seasoned is your shoots? Mine were cut in March, probably won't be ready for finished arrows till next year.........Art

Thanks Art.  These were cut last year early spring, and they seem to work well with the heat.  I was actually supprised.  Letting them rehydrate a few days, the hit them with  another straightening.  They look as though they are going to make some really nice arrows.

wow ....and  i thought some of the shoots i picked had "character" !
great job getting those kinks out.
what did you mean by RE-hydrating? do you actually soak em, or re-soak em?

i've got to get to my bundles of spicewood , rosebush and
this fall i'll go after some nice hazel i've had my eyes on...
when i'm working on things my ancestors worked, singing the songs my ancestors sang, dancing the same dances, speaking the same language, only then  I feel connected to the land, THIS land, where my ancestors walked for thousands of years...
