first bow

Hi everyone I just finished my first bow it is hackberry 68inttt and 50-55lbs at 28in.
I lightly stained the wood so that the deer wont spook when the bow is shaking from me hyperventlating >:D.
The bow shoots good but slaps my arm every once in awhile probably from me changing something while i shoot..

Excellent bow for your first. There are a few issues but in general you did a great job building it. You've got a little too much bend at mid limb of the lower limb and could bring the bend of both limbs back in closer to the fades. Something to work on on your next bow. Very well done!!!  8)
The occasional arm slap is probably you changing your grip or straightening out your bow arm.

great looking bow especial for a first.  I agree with what pat said aswell the top limb lookes perfect though use it as a referance on your next tiller job.  great job.  Id like to see some close ups of handle and all though.

So how does it feel to have a bow under your belt?
How do you like working with Hackberry.
In my opinion, Hackberry is relatively easy to acquire and is very under rated.
I love working with it.

Thanks everyone  Bownut I should be able to get some more pics later tonight or tommorow.
BowJunkie I love working with hackeberry it grows straigh and its easy to take the wood of with a drawknife plus you dont have to chase a ring .

great first bow, the arm slap can be corrected with your grip, grip the handle and slightly turn in toward the handle, that should helpm ya, but  i still smack my wrist and ive got close to 40 plus bows built. not perfect tiller but it shoots, thats all ya need, keep on building.

Good looking first bow Everything Else has been said. Another thing that can cause is brace height. Bring it up to around 7" and see what that does. Do you still shoot a compound? Do you still compete? The reason I ask, is you have great form for it. Looks like you could have one in your hand with a wrist strap, hand open, heel of your palm pushed into the grip..Going out on a limb here, You compete in a class higher than at the bowhunter steaks. Come on. You can admit it. We're all friends here ;D

The problem with gettin a nice weight bow on the first go-around is the BUG.....it's sneekin up on ya as we speak ;D now it's all down hill from here on out....good bow sir.

Hillbilly thanks for the compiments I do shoot compounds but have only been to a small relay for life shoot(6-5 people)but I did win though ;D.
aslo the bow has a 7 1/8 inch brace so it is probably my grip changing..

thanks for the new bow pics and very good job on the handle I like it.  and now that I see it unstrung and braced the tiller lookes a little better.  very nice I need to try a hackberry bow
