Arrow Head Base Pictures?
« on: June 23, 2011, 05:07:01 pm »
I was always wondering as to how thick the bases of arrowheads are from artifacts and ones that you guys have made. If you got some can you post some pictures of there bases from an edge few?

These are the thinnest artifacts that I own.  The thickness goes up from here.

From another collection.  These are the thinnest artifacts I've seen from someone else's collection:

There is no set thickness for any artifact type.  Some types may generally be thicker than other types but the thickness varies with the skill of the knapper, the material, and the knapping technique.  About 90% of all projectile points will be 1/4" thick or less.

I've watched, when Patrick finishes a point it looks like a wheat thin...  Very cool points there.
