anybody ever see one of these?
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:58:35 pm »
A buddy of mine was doing some work for a guy and found this bow, the ol' boy gave it to him and I was wondering if any of ya have seen one, it seems to be aluminum or magnesium, the tips are a whole 1/4" wide, told him i'd rebuild the handle and make a string for it, just never seen one like this before, Bub

I've never seen one like it, gotta do some research now ::). It is probably aircraft aluminum, late 40's, early 50's.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Everything I have read about old aluminum bows indicates they are wall hangers because they are prone to failure if shot. I don't have any first hand experience with them but have read a lot about the ones that crop up occasionally.

I would hang it on the wall.  Might be worth something some day, but not if you shave on the limbs

the only thing wood on it is the handle, my buddy say's he shot it, but I think it's a pretty light draw weight, Bub
