chasing the osage ring

at bow class last nite, my mentor and dear friend was telling about a conversation he once had with an "old timer" @ mojam some years ago.
this fella told wayne you could change rings at the handle if the handle didnt bend. or leave a ring above on handle.
have no plans on doing this currently, but curious what ya'll think.

if it isn't bending in the area you can have a violation and be fine....so it is true...gut

I would concur with that. Same as at the non bendy tips..

I've jumped rings alot,(on osage) but have no pics to show you,just do it at the center of the handle and you should have no worries.

I have heard that it is ok as well no personal experience though as I am a beginner at self bows

I did it once.  Got shakey knees, a twitchy left eye, and bad releases even though it was still taking the strain after a couple hundred arrows.  I ended up cutting off the leather grip and putting a rawhide patch over it because it was going to a friend. 

It was an early bow and I think I made the right choice since my handles used to be pretty narrow.  Nowadays I wouldn't hesitate to do it if the situation came up.   Good luck.
