Thanks for the warm welcome! Thanks also for the compliments. It was worth all the time just to see the look on her face when she pulled it out of the sock! She's not used to the extra length and the skinnier shelf, but her first shot on the course killed a baboon. I'm just now getting back from Compton. Heck of a fine shoot!
@Pappy: Yes, I remember you and all the other Southern Boys staying down in the holler at Elm Hall. We'll have to chat more this time. To be honest, though, I think people remember me more for my hot archer wife.
@Dragonman: I've only completed 2 BBIs and 3BBMs so I don't have a ton of data about Ipe vs. Massaranduba. I don't see any difference in performance or string follow between the two, but Massaranduba is by FAR my favorite to work with. You've probably noticed all the little slivers you have in your hands after working Ipe. Massaranduba doesn't do that. Ipe splinters with a rasp, but M's work-ability is more like Osage. Ipe drives my sinuses nuts but M. doesn't half as much. You might be able to find it called "Brazilian Redwood", "Beefwood", or "Bulletwood." I love the looks of Bamboo-backed Osage, but I don't think it takes the same amount of stress as either of these tropical woods.
