Got the fever again.
« on: June 12, 2011, 10:37:06 pm »
Haven't chipped much since last year about this time. Just haven't really been in the mood, until this weekend.So...I started going through some of my rock stash and worked out the kinks on  a few hunting points made from Jeff city chert, Reeds springs, and Flint ridge, then graduated to the Thebes point made from raw Kay county, After that I grabbed a piece of Sedalia rock and found a surprise inside!

I worked hard to keep it in the piece and managed, but had to settle for something a good bit thicker than I wanted, but none the less it looks pretty cool! 8).

Then I figured I might as well see ifin I could make something a bit larger without any glue  ;)and managed an 8 inch Dalton out of more Sedalia. It was good material on the tip and base, but the middle was very chalky.I figure I got REAL lucky keeping it together, Not the cleanest point but I am pleased for now.

Got my fix and now I am back in the saddle.

I can't make that many in a week!
Don't look like you've gotten very rusty to me. Is most of that stuff "sedimentary"?
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

Most of the Sedalia stuff is Shannon. Pretty course with lots of iron deposits, you will even run into some with holes plumb through the iron deposits.  Although you will run into a piece that is very high in silica.

I am saving that for something? ???

I don't know how you saved that fossil, but those points and blades are real nice. I had some coral, and tried and tried without success to get a fossil to show in the blade.

Why is it that when you get the fever it turns out so awesome, but when I get the fever all I do is get a snot nose and sweat a lot?

No real work today, so I figured since I have been on a roll I had better get with it. Made 6 hunting points, and one calfcreek today, then busted a clovis on the second flute. Took some pics and notice that one of the points in the pic was from yesterday. ::)  Not sure how I got them mixed up. I even went out to see  and was surprise at how close they looked to each other.

Made me realize just how come we find so many points that favor . maybe made by the same guy?

I'm done for a while.... Gotta big job for the next couple weeks.

Thanks all for the back slaps.
