I ran home from work today to grab the dog and head to my son's t-ball game. When I pulled in the drive I noticed a box propped up beside my door, and got as giddy as a school girl. Hammertime had PMed me to let me know to keep my eyes peeled, so I knew what was inside. I couldn't help but rip the box open and check out the bow before I went to the game. When I got one end open I noticed a recurved tip starting back at me. I've been wanting a recurved self bow for a while, awesome! But the best was yet to come. As I continued opening the box I noticed the recurve was actually a 3 piece take-down. How freakin' cool is that? But wait, there's more. There was another bow in the box, a walnut paddle bow! To say I was stoked would be the understatement of the week, but I resisted stringing them up until after the game. As soon as I got home I ran for the box on the dinning room table, got the bows strung, grabbed a couple of arrows and headed out the door.
1st, the hickory/walnut take-down recurve
This is one sweet shooting bow. I can stack the arrows in there with this thing, and for the few that saw me shoot last weekend you know how hard that is for me to do. I'm really looking forward to carrying this one come deer season.
Next, the awesome paddle bow
Unfortunately, on my second draw this happened
My heart sank when I felt it give. Not only have I wanted one of these bows for a while now, I know somebody put a lot of time and effort into it. Not a problem though, I've still got one great bow and I'll find a way to salvage that wood.
Thank you very much, Jeffrey!
