West Texas chert.
« on: June 03, 2011, 12:08:08 pm »
I picked this piece up from Kinley Coyan at the Fredricksburg knap-in. He picks it up off of his ranch. He puts a little heat to it and WOW it is some good stuff. One of the easiest stones to knap. It doesn't take a lot of force to make it work. Here are some pics of the reduction stages. I need to straighten the sides a little but Ill save that for another day.

Dang Tower! You do know how to fine tune em! I have seen quite a bit of that in the perd that I've picked up south of San Antonio. Seems like the ones with more pinkish in em work the best. That's a fine point there..

Wow... very nice LONG point.  :o

I've got some of Kinley's stone also and I agree, it's great stuff.

I don't think you should bother trying to straighten that one out, it looks too far gone to save.  Send it to me for proper disposal.  ;D

Dang fine point, Tower.
