Went and cut a Bitternut Hickory today. Will get 18 staves with no Knots and straight grain. First time to use Hickory this time of year the Bark just pops off. May get to like it better than Osage. Tree was from a creek bottom and went straight up for 20 ' before the first limb. 12" diameter at base.
