For all of you out there who have made oak recurves from boards, what thickness were your tips when you bent in the curves? Also did you use steam or dry heat? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Silence is golden but duct tape is silver.

i steamed them over a 2 gallon pot of boiling water covered in aluminum foil for 30 minutes before bending on mine. I did 4 limbs at a time and 3 came out good. Still need to make a matching limb for the odd limb I have left.
I think the tips were around 1/2 inch thick. maybe 5/8ths...
