dlh flint point side notch

This was made from a bad mean thick small stone and in 25 minutes.   I was shocked that it worked.  It is not pretty but is very funtional.

Thanks guy for the comments.  When I made this point I felt like the stone never calmed down until the last two flakes. The stone had two bad steps on each side and when I was amost done I created a step that required me to thin the basal end.  It was one of those points that seemed like it was just not going to work.

It's working stone like that,along with the will & determination to prevail that builds a great knapper. I love a good piece of candy rock, but when things are easy we (man) tends to get lazy and complacent. It's just one mans opinion on things.

That's a dandy point and favors the green Rhyolite butter rock in NC. Do you know where the rock came from.
