I was just given a lot of pecan, oak, hickory, ash and poplar board lumber from a cabinet maker. Too short for bows, bit how long should I cut them for handle pieces?

like sailordad i go with a 4" handle and 1 1/2"-2" fades but cut the blanks eight to ten inches long, gives me more room to layout and ya can use the fade cuts for tip overlays, Bub

Why cut them? I'd just leave them as is as cut as you go. There will be way less waste that way, and you don't squirrel yourself into a corner by designating the lumber for one purpose.

or maybe I will make short bows like Ken75 and splice the short pieces and make mo short bows
