Osage Trio
« on: April 26, 2011, 11:40:14 pm »
HEre are some pics of my Osage trio. My Osage bow( E Pluribus Unum), my hand forged tomahawk with Osage handle, and a little neck knife I just finished up with an Osage handle.

That's a good looking set, nice!  How'd you learn how to do the forging - what did you use, HickoryBill?  Did you put a high-carbon layer of steel in the head of it?

Cool set! Did all that wood come from the same tree?

The wood actually all came from the same stave, so it was from the same tree.. ;D ;D  A guy I work with has a blacksmith's forge in his garage, we spent an afternoon there and he taught me the basics. The tomahawk head is made from a single piece of 4140 steel.. It's folded over and forge welded.4140 is mid level in the carbon rating, but the head took a nice edge.

All from the same tree?  Ohhhh, so much the better!  That really makes it a SET!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
