Tigerwood - Goncalo alves - muiracatiara
All the same. It's a South American timber, but nowhere near ipé. It's not as dense, not as (compression) strong. Goncalo alves requires a backing; I think bamboo may be too much for it, but hickory should probably complement it nicely.
Both "straight taper or even out to 2/3 of limb and taper to tips" will work. You need to match the tiller to the front profile, though. Ideally, the straight taper should be tillered out more circularly than the even out to 2/3 of limb and taper to tips, which should be more elliptical.
