I switched over to Flickr.  If you have yahoo mail it's really convenient.  Good point about losing pictures.  I haven't been backing mine up when I load them.

That was unique how photobucket was down for me around 2 days.  Didn't lose any pictures but doesn't make me a happy camper when I was planning on using photobucket to share pictures of my soon to be son.  :-\
