does anyone know where to find some chert near yakima, washington?

The only chert I am aware of in Washington State is located in the North Cascades National Park and is off limits.  From Yakima, it's about as close to head south to Glass Buttes in Oregon and get some obsidian.  I suppose if you had enough time and energy you might be able to locate some of the Hozomeen chert outside the North Cascades Park but I've never heard of anyone doing so.  You can get a lot of information by doing a search for Hozomeen chert, but here is a link to a video recently put out by the Park service that talks about it and shows examples:   http://vimeo.com/19178379
