waldorfs book or hellwegs . give you a good idea on terminology and technique. honestly sites like this and youtube vids will give you the info you need to know. nothing can beat sitting down with an experienced knapper though

i wouldnt waste my moneyt on books
not that they arent any good
but you tube is free, and you can actualy see what they are doing and not just look at a pic with an explanation
not to mention the explanation may not be clear to you when you read it
there are alot of great slab knappers on you tube
not sure if he has any vids on there but JIM REDFERN is probably one of the best in the world when it comes to slab knapping
ive seen him work up close and man what he can do to a slab is incredible
good luck

DC Waldorf's "the art of flintknapping" got me kicked off. If i could find it i'd probably mail it to ya. But yea, youtubes and knapp ins are better.

Jim Winn, in addition to his many videos, also has a couple of very good PDF tutorials.  One is on working a slab:

and the other is on biface reduction:

I'm with everyone else. You really need to watch a video. Books have great pics, but alot is left to your imagination. It is better to watch it done

I started like in jan.   If you want to make points like you see on my post do everything these guys tell you to do.  I learned very fast because of their ideas and input.  Watch the videos time after time, hit rock ask questions watch video hit rock repeat process.  When you dream about knapping you will start to get it.
