Thanks all for the comments Pappy and others I'm sorry, not sure what you mean there please explain,if you are refering to the back of the bow those are not grain lines just leftover innerbark,hope it holds anyway got lots of shots through it,the stai n is ebony on the sides and red mahgony on the back  anyways Thanks Hammertime

looking at the pics closer the lines on the back you see are actually pen lines for a painting scheme I might do later otherwise not sure what you fellas mean Hammertime

I'd be worried about the notches on the edge causing too much fibre violation on the back.......but hickory should handle it better than most anything else.

When I saw the cuts people are talking about I just thought they looked like the ones half eyes has been doing on his bows just a little different. I never read the article dont subscribe yet but When I heard others concerns it made me wonder why as well? Maybe Half eye can chime in? Again looks awsome!

these aren scallops
scallops are like a semi circle

these are more or less chevorns (v) shapes
with the v notch at the base of eah one
it is like leaving a square corner on the bow
we all know that squared edges are where slinters are going to lift
same goes here
not to mention that where very v notch is it goes back up and gets wier nd then tapers back into the next v shape
this is causing grain violation on the back of the bow
more than just having the bow limb taper
also another good way to pop a splinter

i still think it looks cool though
makes me want to listen to some good ol Robin Trower tunes 
just like old times

        How come ya wouldn't let somebody have that beauty? Yours should be holding up fine and obviously is from a stave......well here's a plains bow (more than a 100 yrs old) made from a stave.....it seems to have survived...........like I said before that bow just flows, it's a definitely a "keeper".
