You mentioned raw rock, It seems to me  that with hammerstones raw rock works better than the heated stuff? You fine that true?

I had been hitting some treated rock,( with frustrating results) and then last night switched to some raw burlington and noticed quite a bit of differences in the flaking qualities with hammerstones. I got along a good bit better.

tim i use a softer rock for anything that is heated. in ct we have two types of rock really soft and really hard. most of my hammers are hard stone. thanks tower
