I have ordered some dacron but will take a week or two, what is a decent alternative for tillering? I have a large spool of cotton thread, is that useable or total crap?
Cheers

Get come parachute cord or heavy nylon from Home Depot or some such. Cotton could blow on you and trash you and/or your bow.

Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

Cotton thread = total crap. Go get some 500# strength nylon cord from like walmart or somewhere. Just tie knots in it. Works great. Just can't have super small nocks or the string will pop out.

Spider Wire fishing line is almost the same as FastFlight.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

I'm just learning to make strings but have been using artificial sinew. The ones that have been made for me work very well.

If artificial sinew works, would Synthetic gut tennis strings work as well?

Or Hemp?
