My first bow Red Oak

Here are some pics of my first ever bow from a board of Red Oak. I tried to copy a Cherokee style. Let me know what you think and constructive criticism done properly is always appreciated. I may paint it a little more. DISCLAMER The camera person was in no danger with the front shots arrow was not nocked. :)

good job. tiller looks fine to me. what weight ,length etc.  gotta love the d-tillered bows.

Looks really good to me. Only thing I would consider changed would be to make the tapers a little more aggressive from about mid limb to the tips. Those tips look a bit wide.

hows the handshock on that thing?  I'm working on a 72" pine bow much like yours...so far working on narrowing the tips down from 1".  Handshock is pretty jarring so far.

Wow guys thanks a bunch! ;D For those that asked it's about 68" ntn and 43lbs at 27 inch about 47-48 at 28 inch.

Matt, yeah I know what you mean your way would be more efficient but I was following a particular style and apparently they didn't know that either. :)

Anz, Can't lie there is a fair amount of hand shock but I was expecting that with this design. I'm hoping my next will be more Wampanoag style and that the hand shock thing won't be an issue. I say "fair" amount but I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable.

In that case, I don't see anything wrong with that bow :)

Didn't realize that style had wide tips like the Meare Heeth. They must have been launching some heavy arrows!

I know how jazzed I was when I actually decided to make a piece of wood wear a string and have an arrow fly into a target !!!
You reached into a place that not a lot of people go or have been. AND....you did it really well !!! Tell me that you couldn't wipe the smile from your face when you nocked that first one and let it fly??? Great job, and best of luck on future wood bending - it just sort of grabs you and you start looking at trees ( and boards) differently!!!
