Broken Andice points
« on: March 25, 2011, 03:01:30 pm »
Unfortunately I broke these . The ears facing each other snapped when I was punching them. I just couldn't throw them away. It took a half a bar of soap to wash the curse words from my mouth.

Punch notching. Its a type of indirect flaking. I place a small wedge of bone on to a prepared platform .Pressing the point firmly into my leather pads I strike the bone swiftly with an antler billet. This produces a conical flake on the reverse side of the punch.prepare the notch flip the point and repeat in the sameprocess. But be warned if you have a platform that is too strong or are not pressing the point firmly it will snap. P.S. I glued the ears back on.

Tower--I know that feeling all to well. Luckily, last night, the notching gods were favoring me. I finished up two Andices that I had preformed out a few weeks ago. That is a good job. There aren't many folks that can notch that deep!!

Kinley

I was going to post a pic. of the two I made, but cant remember how to shrink down the picture size.
