Copper Question

I have a quantity of copper wire (#9 cool rolled). Is it feasible to melt it and case some large 'bopper' type tools?

It melts at about 2000 degrees F, so as long as that is not an issue and you have a mold- go for it.

That was going to be the next question. Maybe the best thing would be to trade some of the 'wire' for a bopper'

That is what I was told.!!

I got it many years ago when copper was like 25 cents/lb. I think I am going to clean some up and post in the trades area. I looked on the only knapping site my work network will still let me get to and they list their 'wire' at 5 inch length. What is the best length? 12"? Just wanting some opinions.

Thats a good length. My flaker only hold 4" but I made them. Others may hold longer
