Something big something small
« on: March 23, 2011, 03:56:11 pm »
Had a nice tab so I decided to make an axe out of it. But when I was finished I thought it would look better notched . I didn't want to loose the width so I left it a little thick. The Montell was made from a stone from the Colorado river I was surprised to find 3 differant colors in it. Hope to find more one day.

Made a great looking axe or point. All are great.

I've been knapping about 7 years. When I lived in the hill country good rock was everywhere If it wasn't a real nice piece I didn't work it. My knapping was  kinda at a stalemate.I moved to Houston where the only rock to knap comes from resteraunt landscaping stones (poor quality). I brought a lot of good rock with me but when I had used it up all I was left with was poor quality stone. Knapping that stuff really helped me out.
