redo on a hickory . changing handle- fade dimension. it has a rounded back, 1.5 wide 70 ntn.  3/8 tips. i got a piece of boo at ojam and would like to back this one. first try, need help. the back has a large knot in both limbs midway. do i flaten the back, thin the boo, tb3,whats cooking, tip overlays on the boo or the hickory, flip the tips before or after the boo????. help please and thanks.  butch.

If you are backing with boo, the back of the stave will need to be flat. I taper my boo from 1/8"  thick at the handle to 1/16" at the tips after the shape of the bow is cut out of the boo. If the boo is too thick it will over power the belly wood.
