Short Maple Hunting bow...
« on: March 01, 2011, 07:36:28 pm »
Hey everybody... Just finished up my third bow. I'm planning to use it for hunting this fall. The bow is made of hard maple and has a glued on red oak riser. It's 1.5 inches at the fades and tapers to 5/8 inch pin nocks. It hits hard and shoots fast. The bow is 55" nock to nock and pulls 54# at 24" but I have pulled it to 26" just to make sure its safe. The bow took about an 3/4 inch of set which I don't think is bad at all. Hope ya'll like it.

Looks good , I like maple. On your next one try to get to bend a little more at the fade area to mid limb. This one seems a little stiff. But it might be , because of the short draw. But I really like the work you have done. Denny

I think tillering it that way reduced set and it fits the front view profile.  That's a solid design Ifrit, gives off some hefty meare heath vibes.

Thanks guys..

Denny- originally I thought that it would need more bend near the handle to but when I used a tillering gizmo and a block of wood to check the evenness of the bend, there was more bend near the handle then it looks like an is bending quite a bit there... An illusion at full draw maybe? :)

probably just the quartering away camera angle and the gutter drain making an optical illusion.  It looks great to me and should be a great contestant in the March Self BOM contest too!   :)
