I'd say that I'd be looking to make a horse bow at about 57-60" perhaps?
Was toying with doing something shorter, but I'm aiming to make every bow to come out of me, a hunting bow, and since I'm unpracticed with the short draws of real short bows, I'm thinking of something in that length of 57-60"? I know it is sometimes hard to get a clear nice straight stave in Juniper (so I've read) that has any length to it, but being as I'm not afraid of building short bows, I thought I really needed to make a juniper bow!
To sum it up,...
57-60" long?
#45-55 @ 27"?? (my normal draw is 27")
There are two bows by Ed Scott I have in mind that I would make in Juniper (as I think that's the same wood he used?)
One is real short at 53" the other I'm not sure on the length.
The 53" looks like it is about 2" wide for about 7-7" past the fades then narrows quite a bit into a static tip that's probably around 5-7" long?...give or take.
The other looks to be about 1/2-1 3/4" wide at widest points, maybe for about 3-4 past the fades then narrows up. That's a reflex/reflex bow....real sharp looking bow,...one of my all time favorite bows.
