meet my new turkey bow (not for bom)
« on: February 24, 2011, 09:52:47 pm »
I have been trying for sometime now to build a bow short enough to sit directly on the ground and hunt turkeys with. I also need a bow short enough to hunt from the kayak. Rich,(Half eye) sent me a roughed out bow, that i could finish tillering, and this is it. It's red elm, 51" t-t, about 45#@22" I probably could have come back a little farther, but that's the perfect draw for me shootin out of the kayak. I put some camo denim on the back for the turkeys. I got busted by a nice tom last year at 6 yard while picking up my bow >:(, maybe the camo will help next time. :)

Cool bow.. You might want to change the handle wrap though cause it's red... Not the best thing to bring to the turkey woods.... ;D

Cool little turkey bow Dave. Just the right size for sitting on the ground or in a boat.  8)
...but please do change the handle wrap to a different color if you are going into the turkey woods. I was tought in hunters ed that you never wear or carry anything red white or blue while turkey hunting. Those colors are on a turkeys head and there are other "turkeys" that might shoot you. :o

nice buzzard buster  8)

however, i dont think the camo is gonna help a tom not see you
there eyes pick up on the slightest movements
i have an all black bow,i dress in all black(head to tail, face, hands and all) and hunt from a ground blind with a black interior
i was set up in the shade, had the mesh up
tom come into range,i had my bow in my hand but drew back
and he actually spotted that movement in a dark blind with me and the bow all in black
like i said,their eyes are gooooood  ;)
but i do like a camo bow my self

Dauntless, yes they see in color
i always wanted a harley, untill it became the "thing to ride"
i ride because i love to,not to be part of the crowd
