Making an oak pyramid board bow 2 1/2" wide by 66" long. Bending well on the long string but still nearly 3/4" thick. Seems like a lot of wood to make a light weight bow.This bow seems to weigh about the same as a finished 45# osage bow of mine. I just did not realize that oak was such a light weight wood or did I get an inferior piece of wood.      Kenneth

Kenneth, I have found that red oak can be quite varuiable. It will be considerably thicker than an osage bow with the same other dimensions and weight.

You cant really compare oak to osage in weight. How thick are the rings?
