KOTB (knife on the brim)
« on: February 22, 2011, 02:56:15 pm »
I didn't get into the KITH but Bevan R. and I got a trade going on the side.
Got this in the mail Friday.
Myrtle wood handle, Edger blade knife. The Sheath has these cool magnets to hold the blade in.
I am very impressed by this knife and he said it is only the third one he's made!
Enjoy
Mark

p.s. I didn't come up with the KOTB acronym, that was Bevan. I'm not that clever!

Hope it serves you well. I've been drawing up this design for a while now. Wanted to make it a cross between a plain old hunter and an ulu-type skinner, so it's not quite either. It's made from a lawnmower blade someone gave me, the blade was never used so I wasn't worried about stress cracks or anything.
I think I might make another the same way for myself.

Cool knives.  Did both of you use a forge while making these or just stock removal?

I just removed what I didn't want.

Cut mine out with a dremel then used my belt sander to shape and sharpen. Just want to keep the metal cool while shaping so to not lose the temper.
