first points not obsidion or glass

these points came out of a piece of rhiolite, put it in my gas grill to cook it, Bub

Very nice colors and a couple very fine points!  That rhyolite is tuff stuff.

Man, that rhyolite seems to come in all kinds of colors - I thought it was all green ;D. Good lookin points there!

they told me it was rhyolite at the gem store, the white one seemed to flake pretty good but the other one was hard, same piece of rock, just wierd to me

sailordad, I havn't been knappin long enough to know what ya can or can't do, I just tryed to flake it and it was hard to flake so I put the slabs in the grill on high for a couple of hours and pulled them out in the morning, color got a little darker with the red, white got creamy coloredand glossy when flaked, Bub

Just want add 2 cents to help clarify,
There are hundreds of different types and ages of rhyolite around the world.
They don't all look or knap the same. Bubby's pieces pictured here are
most likely from the southwestern states, New Mexico, Arizona, etc.
The rhyolite in NC, for example, is completely different.

The red looks like that mexican rhyolite that mullet brought to the classic two years ago.
