I will post that Scowler. I was thinking Thor's hammer or a boar with a runes border.
Medicine we will have to look in to how to get you a drum or at least the material and a little instruction. A moose drum would be sweet. Bison is nice and thick to. What types of rawhide is available in Germany?

Right now I have goat (real parchment) and some red stag and fallow deer rawhide. Could get calf skin timpany pads easy (the translucent stuff).
But moose ...yeah that would be sweet! Might get some from sweden maybe...

What about reindeer? I know in Scandanavia the farm them. I bet that would make a dandy drum. You know I'm also am thinking of making a double sided sweatlodge drum. That will have to be another buildalong!

The Eskimos in Barrow Alaska make their drums out of walrus.  The drums are shaped like a big skillet and they use a stick to strike the bottome side of the drum.  The make boats out of the walrus hides also!  Joe

I got a guy I know up in the Olympics who teaches how to make rawhide canoes. I was just watching a show that talked about Lewis and Clark building boats out of bison hides to cruise down the Big River. Rawhide is a pretty amazing material. I would love to find some more info on walrus rawhide.

Bear, is it "loop" or "hoop" drum?

I might get some moose rawhide through one of my students who frequently goes to Finland. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Guess that's the correct name, too.

Looking forward for your build-along!
