Hey Bill, I'm up here in Erie Co. I live about 15 miles south of the mistake on the lake. Ya, right in the heart of lake effect snow country. Sun sure felt good today, not sure if it got above freezing but it still was a welcome relief. Bob

Those look good. And a "tink" in the kiln is a BAD thing! Hope you got it turned down in time. Bill

Them look good Bob! What kind of rock? Sounds when your cooking are not good unless it's the wood crackling

Those look really good bob!!
Something i have learned about cooking rock. If you set it to 240* over night and give it time to dry then you only have to worry about it getting to hot. but if you know how hot you need it and know your kiln your be fine!

i cook at
200 degrees
for 12 hrs. you dont wanna go over that temp to dry the rock because water turns to steam at
212 degrees
. it is that expansion which blows up your rock
i live in lanc pa. in the morning east faceing wall where the sun hits my house is kinda cozy
