Blind Bows

looking for opinion on your favorite style bow under 55" drawn to 28". Thinking of making a new bow for turkey season. I like the Mollegabets . Did a search and saw Justin and a few others had some nice ones. Wonder if opinions have changed over time.Titan bow had made a beauty but dont know if he's still around. Oh, no sinew backed,not in my skill set,yet.

What about one of the Northwest 'Paddle' bows? Then can be pretty short and if rawhided, should hold.

I am building the bow you are talking about right now.  I decided on vine maple NW style 55in total length.  I will post pics when I get home Monday.  I think sinew backing is best for LONG LASTING short bows unless Osage and D style.

No sinew? But it's so much fun, and short bows are what sinew is meant for! Sinew really isn't hard to apply (hey, if I can do it anyone can). It also helps hold reflex. Short D bows backed with sinew are a great combo. If you really are set against sinew though, a hickory D bow with a tempered belly should work in addition to the ones already mentioned.

Thanks Chris , I can't wait to see it. And Kegan your way too modest. I'm nowhere near your level. I didn't get to hunt this year due to family obligations so maybe I'll collect some sinew next year and give it a go. I love shorter bows for hunting, not really sure what length qualifies as a short bow but 55 and under work well in my blinds.

i was thinking of making a short bow for turkey hnting from my blinds too  :)

but now i think i am just gonna buy a new blind instead,atleast thats what im telling the wife  ;)
seen the new PRIMOS DOUBLE BULL CRUSH blind
the one they had on display was tall enough to shoot trad gear in it standing up

Kegan is spot on Sinew is like ketchup makes everything better it is cheap and simple to apply.  It doesn't take great skill just a little time and tough thumbs.  No excuse you can prep and apply a sinew back in under 4 hours total time.  Get started right away though it should set at least 30 days prior to tillering.

jeff , there are a lot of options out there molles short d bows , but for short with a lot of zip this one has always been my favorite 54inches tip to tip before bending

For short bows and full length draws I prefer a deflexed from the handle recurve. I mkae quite a few shorties but only draw most of them about 24". I have a 54" I shoot at 27", deflex reflex I like a lot.

54 inch t to t before bending 1 1/2 at fades to 1/2 inch tips straight taper with a trapped back . also handle is 3 ,1 and 1
