First successful knife, first slab

I'm really pleased with this one. Obsidian, 5 1/4" long by 1 3/16" wide by 1/4" thick. My longest and thinnest yet.

Not perfect but this is the first slab I have been able to keep one piece. Learned to stitch the square edge and really started figuring out the angles to get nice thinning flakes. There's still a few saw marks I didn't get but I figured to let them be before I broke the blade.

being that small I would pressure flake that sucker and lay off the percussion...JMO...gut

Good job.  Don't worry about a couple center saw marks.  With a little practice with directional pressure you will get rid of them.  Nice stone you had to work with!  Indian Joe
