birch bark backed red elm WARNING! MADE BY A YOOPER
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:24:46 am »
Dana sent me this in an email. Its too nice not to share it with all of you

Birch Bark backed red elm, 67.5" NTN, 1.5" at fades, 55#@29" Birch bark is in 4 pieces so I wrapped the joint with red silk, ebony tip overlays, FF string and 6 Tonkin cane arrows to complete the set. Made this for a friend with a long draw, I'm only pulling it about 25" in the pictures. What do you think?

Dragonman, a "Yooper" is someone from the U. P.(Upper Peninsula) of Michigan...U.Per = Yooper! And the Yoopers call anyone from below the bridge which joins the UP with the mainland a troll.

Dana can sure make a nice bow.  This one is a fine looking one.

He makes a mighty fine knife also. Two Yoopers (Dana, and VB) and I have a knife swap going on.  We all just wanted a knife made by a friend.  Now I have to talk those two into doing a bow swap!   ;)

Sure hope he makes it to the Classic this year.

Dana, that is one hell of a bow. I like everything about it. The tips are gorgeous, the birch bark looks great, and it looks like this bow really spits an arrow. I also like seeing your work area again, it's been too long since I saw you or your work.
