alright i have a bunch of this stuff down here in southwest GA. not sure what it is but resembles cane and it varies from 6 foot up to 15 foot or so . diameters go from 1/4 up to about 1 1/4 inch. thanks for lookin

Looks like shattercane to me. ???

 Here in Ill., farmers hate it as it spreads easily and oftrn grows in corn fields....any uses????I have no idea!!

Could be Arunda donax(giant reed grass). Probably not good or marginal at best for arrows. The giant reed grass might make atlatl darts. We used to see lots of it along RR tracks around small country towns of the South East.

well i went through it and cleaned it up wall thickness is good , on the 1 1/4 dia. wall thickness is up to 1/4inch .small stuff about the same as switch cane .i saved about 25 that are about right for arrows 6 foot lengths and a bunch of 3 foot large dia. hopefully it will make flutes.sure hope this stuff works its straighter than any cane and theres tons of it near my house.

anyone have any expirence with this stuff

     Looks like the stuff we used to call maiden cane down here.  Don't know the correct name for it. ;)  As I recall it had thin walls, but that was small stuff.  It grows just about everywhere.

I use the bigger ones of that stuff for flutes sometimes, if you get any about 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 round let me know I wouldn't mind trading for some of it.

i ended up a dozen  3 foot pieces for flutes and some arrow stock . theres plenty more around my house just have to cut it

Looks like "giant cane".  Very similar to phragmites.  Should work fine for arrows as long as it's not the giant reed grass PatB mentioned.
